Goodwill® Car Donations Can Help Overcome Cultural Obstacles
ByEveryone needs a little help getting into the workforce. There are many different challenges, some financial, some social or academic however, there is one major obstacle that is often overlooked; language. For a growing number of people trying to enter or advance in the workforce, English is their biggest obstacle. Not being able to communicate effectively really limits the abilities of even the most capable person. Goodwill Industries® is trying to alleviate this problem through programs and training the focus on this issue. You can help Goodwill® help others their linguistic road block with a car donation.
Your car donation can help Goodwill® to continue offering programs geared toward Spanish speakers to help them learn English and overcome cultural differences that can limit their progress in the workforce. There are reading programs for people that speak English as a second language as well as vocational programs. Some even have employees trained in sign language in both English and Spanish. These programs are aimed at helping Latinos develop the necessary skills to grow in the workplace.
In order for these programs to continue they need funding and you can help. Donating your car is a quick and almost effortless way to keep these programs going. The proceeds from your donated car can help sustain programs that help Spanish speakers gain the skills they need to flourish in an English speaking workforce. There are also Spanish speaking employees able to take your car donation.
Since Goodwill® has been in existence it has helped immigrants from all over the world looking for work find jobs. Your car donation can continue that tradition. An old vehicle that isn’t running can’t do much good but a donated car can go quite a long way towards improving the quality of life of many disadvantaged and disabled people.
